# Vakyartha brand

The public brand is **Vakyartha**, including on the official site at
https://vakyartha.com. The **Vakyartha Songbird** is the identity mark across
the app, desktop, web, admin, cards, print, and public communication. Keep
`vak` for CLI commands, crate names, identifiers, paths and wire formats; the
small app icon uses the bird symbol without shortening the public name.

## Meaning

Vākyārtha names the meaning carried by a sentence. The Songbird gives that
idea a recognisable character: an attentive companion that receives an idea,
understands it, and helps carry it into useful work. The artwork imagines a
crested songbird rather than depicting one exact species.

This is an editorial story for the design, not a claim that Vakyartha is
omniscient or infallible. Product copy should say what the agent can actually
do, and how the person can inspect and guide it.

## Source artwork

`mark/vakyartha-songbird.svg` is the clean vector master. It is flat,
geometric SVG built from separate silhouette, negative-space and throat
shapes. Its three anchors are the swept crest, the V-shaped wing, and the
saffron throat.

The public horizontal identity pairs this symbol with the complete,
custom-outlined **Vakyartha** wordmark. `Manrope` Semibold at weight 600
provides a clear humanist voice in the generated lockup;
`fonts/OFL-Manrope.txt` carries its SIL Open Font License 1.1. The exported
wordmark consists of paths, so it renders the same at screen and print sizes
without a font dependency.

The prior interwoven V, from the approved 2026-09-25 identity, is preserved
as historical artwork at `history/2026-09-25-woven-v.png`. It is no longer
the current logo.

## Ready-to-use artwork

The artwork in `exports/` is generated by `scripts/brand/generate.mjs`.
Never edit generated files by hand; change the SVG master or the generator,
then regenerate every destination together.

Generated app bundles also contain the current icon, light/dark wordmark paths,
favicons, notification art, Dock artwork, browser install icons, touch icons,
Android and iOS icons, and platform-specific tray icons. Their source vector
art is in `crates/vak-client-ui/public/assets/brand/`.

An optional [Dimensional visual pack](library/dimensional/README.md) supplies
transparent 3D character portraits and glyphs, an illustrated app icon, and
light/dark app and site lockups. The [asset gallery](library/index.html)
collects those with the canonical sources and wallpapers. The pack is a
runtime Appearance choice in the client; the default generated platform
icons continue to come from the SVG master.

## License scope

The repository's [MIT License](../../LICENSE) covers its original software and
textual documentation. It does not license the Vakyartha name, Songbird logo,
character designs or artwork, or wallpapers. Third-party material, including
the Manrope font, retains its own license notice.

Indigo and paper ground the mark. Saffron stays focused on the bird's throat
and on the product's established live states. Use solid fills. Keep the
complete, centred symbol in app tiles. Use the standalone bird for a square,
small or co-branded space; use the horizontal lockup where the full public
name must be clear.

Product body text uses the design system's interface type. The custom
wordmark is outlined artwork; marketing headings may use the existing
Newsreader family.

## Mascot

The larger Vakyartha bird portraits are the expressive companion artwork,
not replacements for the logo. Eight poses live in
`mascot/vak-songbird-pose-01..08.png`, cropped from
`docs/brand/characters/vak-atlas.png`.

Keep the three-feather crest, indigo body, saffron throat, cream face, and
calm expression. Use the logo alongside large character art only when they
remain distinct at the rendered size.

## Voice and language

Use **Vakyartha** in public titles, product writing, support and narration.
The internal `vak` command and namespaces keep their established spellings.
Avoid abbreviations such as Vak, getvak and “Vakyartha AI” as public names.

Tagline: *An agent you can inspect, constrain, and extend.*

The Vakyartha voice is calm, confident and conversational. The two-note
songbird chirp at `docs/video/spot-2026/audio/sfx-chirp.mp3` is available for
video end cards and the bird's arrival.

## Production and provenance

Run on macOS (Node 20.9+; `iconutil` is supplied by macOS):

The isolated asset generator pins `sharp` 0.35.4 for deterministic platform
renders and `fontkit` 2.0.4 to turn the licensed wordmark into stable vector
paths. Rebuild the client, admin and public-site bundles after asset or brand
copy changes; generated bundles are checked into the repository.

Respect platform corner masks. Design the source symbol with open negative
space; preserve clear space when pairing the full name. Check the bird at
16, 24, 32 and 64px and in black-only print before adoption on a new surface.
Use the provided vector for commercial print; consult the printer for ink
matching on a specific stock.
